OCD- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by persistent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions). Individuals with OCD often feel compelled to perform these behaviors to reduce the anxiety caused by their obsessions, even though they typically recognize that these actions are irrational or excessive. Common obsessions include fears of contamination, harming others, or making mistakes, while common compulsions include excessive cleaning, checking, or counting. OCD can significantly interfere with daily life and functioning.

I am trained in Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy specifically used to treat Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). ERP involves gradually exposing individuals to situations or thoughts that trigger their obsessions, without allowing them to engage in their usual compulsive behaviors. Over time, this exposure helps reduce the anxiety associated with the obsessions and diminishes the urge to perform compulsions. The goal of ERP is to help individuals learn to tolerate the distress caused by their obsessions and to break the cycle of compulsive behavior, ultimately reducing the impact of OCD on their lives
